Karlovic Frustrated With BBC After Wimbledon Loss To Murray

Croatian tennis player Ivo Karlovic, beaten in four sets by Andy Murry on Thursday, maintained that "he had been cheated by a couple of over-patriotic line judges" and suggested that "the BBC backed them up by showing only one close-up replay after a foot-fault call," according to Patrick Kidd of the LONDON TIMES. According to his coach, Karlovic prepared to make an official complaint. Karlovic said, "If there's any way to look at it and it shows I didn't do them, I would like a public apology from the tournament." In addition, Karlovic was "aggrieved" that the BBC showed only one replay, in which his foot was an inch behind the line. Karlovic said, "It is very strange that they did not replay them all." A spokeswoman for the BBC said, "Replays were not shown because the VT [tape] does not show any of the incidents clearly." She added that the footage could have no influence on decisions (LONDON TIMES, 6/30).
