The latest punishment came from their match against Greece with UEFA citing "the setting off and throwing of fireworks by spectators, and displaying of illicit banners" as the reasons for the fine. The latest fine took Russia's total for the Euro Championships to €185,000 ($232,397) (AP, 6/24).
MORE SANCTIONS: The Portugal Football Federation faces disciplinary action after one of its fans attempted to get on the field of play during the country's Euro quarter-final win over the Czech Republic. The case will be heard on Monday (AFP, 6/23).
BANNED: A Liverpool fan has been banned from football for four years after being found guilty of racially abusing ManU supporters and their club skipper Patrice Evra. Phillip Gannon, 58, was seen "on live television doing a racially offensive monkey impression." The banning order will stop Gannon from attending all Liverpool and England games and "also bans him from Liverpool city centre four hours before and after a match." He was also fined £180 ($281) and "ordered to pay" prosecution costs of £300 ($468) (LIVERPOOL ECHO, 6/22).
