Renault To Introduce New Engines To More F1 Teams

French automaker Renault wants to provide more F1 teams with its engines, according to Philipp Schajer of MOTORSPORT-MAGAZIN. Starting in '14, F1 will begin a new era with the introduction of V6 engines. Renault Sport F1 Managing Dir Jean-Francois Caubet would welcome “an increase in the number of teams an engine manufacturer is allowed to supply,” which is currently set at three. This would allow Renault to “provide engines for up to six teams, and reduces the costs for the individual racing team.” A decision regarding this issue should be reached by September. Renault currently supplies four teams with engines and this number is expected to stay unchanged in '13 (MOTORSPORT-MAGAZIN, 6/14).
