TAMAS FRANK "the promoter and the main driving force behind the Hungarian Grand Prix for many years," has died at age 65. Frank was "reportedly found dead at his apartment in Budapest." A close associate of F1 boss BERNIE ECCLESTONE, he was a "familiar face in paddocks around the world." He was VP of both the Hungaroring and of the MNASZ, the country's motor sporting authority (SPEED, 6/5)... Indian cricket legend SACHIN TENDULKAR was sworn in as a member of the upper house of parliament (SYDNEY MORNING HERALD, 6/4). ... Members of England's Euro 2012 team visited the former Nazi Auschwitz-Birkenau camps in Poland on Friday and the trip to the site of the death camp “left a strong impression on England manager ROY HODGSON.”  Hodgson: “It's difficult to imagine this type of inhumanity.” WAYNE ROONEY said, "It's good to get that history of what happened. It puts football into perspective” (BBCSPORT.com, 6/9). Rooney added, “We will speak of what we have seen. If that helps a few more people to understand what happened at Auschwitz then that’s a good” (London TELEGRAPH, 6/8). … Spanish Prime Minister MARIANO RAJOR went to watch his country’s Euro 2012 opener just after Spain announced it would seek international bailout help. He “defended his decision to jet off to Poland” to see Spain take on Italy. Rajoy: “I'll be there two and a half hours and then I'll leave. I think the national team deserves it” (AP, 6/10).
