U.S. Soccer's Fourth-Place Finish In Copa Seen As Step Forward

The U.S. men's national team last night lost 1-0 to Colombia in the third-place match of Copa America Centenario "in front of 29,041" at Univ. of Phoenix Stadium. The loss "secured a fourth-pace finish for the U.S. in the 100th anniversary" of the tournament (ARIZONA REPUBLIC, 6/26). The U.S. "performed better overall than it did" in last week's 4-0 loss to Argentina in the semifinals. In the end, finishing fourth "was a heck of a lot better than the brutal fourth-place finish" in last year's CONCACAF Gold Cup (SI.com, 6/25).

The average asking price for tonight's Chile-Argentina championship match at MetLife Stadium "was $1,067.85" as of Friday morning, which "would make it the second most expensive ticket in the history of the stadium, behind only Super Bowl XLVIII at $2,567." The lowest asking price was $382, according to TipIQ.com (NEWSDAY, 6/25). The cheapest ticket on StubHub for tonight's game is $249 in the upper deck (THE DAILY).
