Maple Leafs Expected To Gain Stability With Auston Matthews Selection

The Maple Leafs on Friday selected C Auston Matthews No. 1 overall in the NHL Draft, and the team now is "beginning to find stability" under the leadership of coach Mike Babcock, President Brendan Shanahan and GM Lou Lamoriello. Matthews "learned the game in a non-traditional fashion" in Scottsdale and is "expected to be an integral part" in moving the Leafs forward (GLOBE & MAIL, 6/25). Babcock said, "When you've been good for as long as he's been good, you get used to the spotlight. And you get used to delivering under pressure.
