Levi's Stadium Draws Over 67,000 For U.S. Copa America Opener

The U.S. men's national team opened play in the Copa America Centenario on Friday night before a "festive crowd of 67,439" at Levi's Stadium. The U.S. "was outclassed by Colombia 2-0," and the crowd was "largely pro-Colombian." FIFA President Gianni Infantino was in attendance. The U.S. plays Costa Rica in Chicago on Tuesday, with a win "pretty much" needed if it has "any hope of advancing" (S.F. CHRONICLE, 6/4). Friday's match marked the debut of new Levi's Tab signage on the north end video board at the stadium. The signage was designed by Infinite Scale in advance of the tournament. A matching video board in the south end will be installed later this month (Levi's Stadium).

Costa Rica and Paraguay yesterday "played to a 0-0 draw" in front of an announced crowd of 14,334 at Camping World Stadium in Orlando. Panama will face Bolovia at 7:00pm ET tomorrow at the stadium (ORLANDO SENTINEL, 6/5). Meanwhile, there were "chunks of empty seats" for Peru-Haiti at Seattle's CenturyLink Field yesterday, with announced attendance of 20,190 (SEATTLE TIMES, 6/5). A crowd of 53,158 turned out for Brazil-Ecuador last night at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena (AP, 6/4).
