Flyers Poke Fun At Themselves, Fans With "Stay Classy, Philly!" Shirts

After Flyers fans were admonished by PA announcer Lou Nolan last week for throwing wristbands on the ice, the team "decided to have some fun at the expense of both itself and its fans" by giving away a T-shirt at today's Game 6 against the Capitals with words "Stay Classy, Philly!" (WASHINGTON POST, 4/23). NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman on Friday said, "Putting aside the hat trick, we don't think it's a good idea for fans to be throwing things on the ice for a whole host of reasons. We don't think it's appropriate, other than the case of the hat trick, to throw things on the ice. Not only is it disruptive to the game, it's potentially dangerous" (ESPN.com, 4/22).
