New Balance Rolls Out First Liverpool Kits, Choosing "Throwback" Style

New Balance on Friday unveiled its new kits for EPL club Liverpool, which "are classic red with a new checkerboard jacquard print." The classic style "is meant to be a throwback to the ‘80s." The kits, which go on sale May 14 for about $75 each, "are part of an expensive sponsorship deal New Balance hopes will help the company break into" the $8B global soccer market. New Balance "is expected to release its first soccer shoe over the summer" (BOSTON GLOBE, 4/11).
