Hawks' Koonin Issues Apology Letter; Ferry Takes Indefinite Leave

The Hawks yesterday "released an open letter of apology" signed by CEO Steve Koonin, after racially charged comments by Managing Partner Bruce Levenson and GM Danny Ferry came to light last week (AP, 9/13). Koonin in the letter wrote, "I am angry that this has happened. I am deeply saddened and embarrassed that this has put a blemish on our team and our city, which has always been a diverse community with a history of coming together as one." Read the full letter here (THE DAILY). Meanwhile, Ferry on Friday announced that he was taking an "indefinite leave of absence" from the team (ESPNNY.com, 9/13).
