Nets Reject Kidd's Power Play; Coach May Leave For Bucks

A source said that Nets coach Jason Kidd "recently approached ownership with a series of demands," which the team turned down, and his departure from the team to coach the Bucks is now "a sudden possibility." Kidd asked Nets Ownership for a role "overseeing the Nets’ basketball operations department in addition to his head-coaching responsibilities." The source added that Kidd did not want GM Billy King "to be dismissed, but wanted to be given a title and placed above him in the organizational hierarchy." Nets Ownership, after rejecting Kidd's request, were then "asked by the Bucks for permission to speak with Kidd about the prospect of hiring him and the Nets consented" (N.Y. POST, 6/29).
