Final Preparations For Super Bowl Underway With Game 27 Days Out

Super Bowl XLVIII officials said that with 27 days to go before the game, final preparations "have begun at the Meadowlands Sports Complex." Tonight's "Disney on Ice" show at Izod Center will be the last event held there before the Feb. 2 Super Bowl in order to "allow preparations for NFL On Location," one of the official NFL parties scheduled for game day. New Jersey Sports & Exposition Authority President & CEO Wayne Hasenbalg said, "[The] NFL is in town now. They’re on the ground, making decisions" (Newark STAR-LEDGER, 1/5).

Meanwhile, Jets Owner Woody Johnson said of the game being held in N.Y., "You can argue about what the financial ramifications are but I suspect that having a Super Bowl, which will be the largest event ever held in New York I would take a guess at, is going to be beneficial to the hotels and cab drivers and Broadway and everyone else when you have that many people coming in" (ESPNNY.com, 1/4).
