Jon Bon Jovi Reportedly Interested In Buying Bills; Leiweke Involved?

Musician Jon Bon Jovi "has significant interest" in purchasing the Bills. CBS' Jason La Canfora broke the news this morning, saying, "I'm told he added legs to his tour to spend more time in Buffalo. He's been around hobnobbing, meeting various power brokers in that area" (“That Other Pregame Show,” CBSSN, 11/24). Sources said that Bon Jovi "has major ties" to MLSE President & CEO Tim Leiweke "and his daughter and that perhaps they could eventually align in pursuit of the Bills, with Bon Jovi the public face of the franchise" (CBSSPORTS.com, 11/24).

Selig, Fehr Among Hundreds In Attendance For Weiner's Funeral

Funeral services for late MLBPA Exec Dir Michael Weiner were held today in Paramus, N.J. MLB Commissioner Bud Selig, Red Sox Chair Tom Werner, Marlins Owner Jeffrey Loria, incoming MLBPA Exe Dir Tony Clark and former union head Donald Fehr were "among the hundreds of people" at today's service. Weiner was eulogized by his wife, Diane Margolin (AP, 11/24). The service was open to the public and "streamed live over the Internet" (NYDAILYNEWS.com, 11/22).

Bobcats Announce Purple & Teal Will Accompany Hornets Re-Brand

The Bobcats today announced that the team will "go purple-and-teal when they become the Hornets next season -- as it was in 1988 and as the fans want it to be again." The colors "will be accented by black and light shades of gray and blue." The team is "still working on new uniforms and logos" (CHARLOTTE OBSERVER, 11/24). The Hornets' original color scheme, designed by Alexander Julian, was "incredibly popular" and "regularly outsold the merchandise of every NBA team" except the Bulls (CHARLOTTEOBSERVER.com, 11/24).

IOC President Thomas Bach Calls On U.S. To Bid For '24 Games

IOC President Thomas Bach yesterday said it is "time for the United States to present a strong bid" to host the '24 Games. Bach, who is in Rome for the European Olympic Committees general assembly and meetings with Pope Francis, added, "I'm happy to hear that the USOC is undertaking everything to prepare such a bid" (AP, 11/23). Pope Francis in a speech to the EOC said, "Sport is harmony but if money and success prevail as the aim this harmony crumbles" (AP, 11/23).

Comcast Contemplating TWC Bid, Reportedly Preferred Buyer

Comcast is "weighing whether to jump into the battle" to purchase Time Warner Cable, which is "already being pursued" by Charter Communications and Liberty Media. Sources said that while Comcast is "contemplating making a bid on its own, it has also discussed working with Charter." However, Comcast "may opt out of the deal-making altogether" (WALL STREET JOURNAL, 11/23). TWC has "made it clear" that Comcast "would be its preferred buyer" (CNBC.com, 11/22).

Led by Inbee Park, who was named the LPGA player of the year on Friday, South Koreans have 108 LPGA victories, but Park is "one of the few South Koreans to have sustained success" on the tour. Of the 31 tour winners from the country, 13 "have won only once and 11 have not won since turning 23."

The DALLAS MORNING NEWS' Gary Jacobson examines AT&T's bid to create content under the header, "AT&T Navigates The Great Video Convergence."
