X Games Aspen Draws 115,000 Fans, Shy Of Record Set In '15

X Games Aspen wrapped up yesterday, and the four-day attendance total of 115,000 "contends with the record set three years ago, despite some spectators' perception that the crowds seemed more tame this year." ESPN said that "some 32,000 people passed through the Buttermilk gates on Jan. 26, making it the busiest single Friday in Aspen X Games history." But Saturday was the "most popular day" of the '18 weekend, with "about 42,000 spectators" compared to 45,000 last year. Yesterday's attendance totaled 30,000 "despite snowboarder Shaun White's withdrawal from the men's superpipe finals" (ASPEN DAILY NEWS, 1/29). White withdrew so he could "return home to rest for the Olympics" (AP, 1/28).
