Laugh Track: Sentimental Journey

NBC’s Jimmy Fallon said, “It was announced that the '90s sitcom ‘Murphy Brown’ is coming back. Another revival. You also have ‘Roseanne’ on ABC, ‘Will & Grace’ on NBC and ‘The Twilight Zone’ on CNN. Speaking of comebacks, a pretty big sports story here. WWE Chairman Vince McMahon announced that he is bringing back his football league, the XFL. XFL fans were like, ‘What a day! ‘Murphy Brown' and now this! I'm like, freaking out, man!’”

Actor Will Ferrell last night appeared on NBC’s “The Tonight Show” where he discussed attending the Australian Open. Ferrell said he “got called onto the court by John McEnroe to help conduct his interview with Roger Federer … but I did it as Ron Burgundy.” Fallon said the show has “done bits about him but I don't know if he really is a comedy fan.” Ferrell: “He's a sweetheart, but he's very Swiss.” Fallon: “He's all business.” Ferrell said Federer was unaware he was going to interview him “so when I walked out onto Center Court, much like the way the heckler just ran on to the court, there's no security. He doesn't know what's going to happen and his body language is like, (‘What is happening?)’” Ferrell said he asked Federer the following, as Ron Burgundy, “Roger, let me ask you this. You're 36 years old. You're defying the laws of age. Are you a witch or a vampire?” Ferrell: “He said, ‘Uh, they both sound terrible.’” Ferrell recalled asking Federer if he only ate wombat meat while in Australia and said the “Australian Twittersphere went ablaze with analyzing why I chose wombat. Why would anyone eat a wombat?” Fallon: “They love wombats.” Ferrell said “wombats are revered” (“The Tonight Show,” NBC, 1/25).

TBS’ Conan O’Brien noted Ravens CB Marlon Humphrey “was arrested on robbery charges. In other words, he's going to fit right in” (“Conan,” TBS, 1/25).
