President Trump, First Lady To Attend CFP Championship Game

President Trump is "planning to attend" Monday's Alabama-Georgia CFP title game in Atlanta, according to sources. He is "set to attend" alongside Agriculture Secretary Sonny Perdue and Vice President Pence's Chief of Staff Nick Ayers. Perdue and Ayers are both from Georgia. First Lady Melania Trump also is expected to attend "under stepped-up security" at Mercedes-Benz Stadium. Atlanta police spokesperson Carlos Campos said that the department is "working with the Secret Service to ratchet up security" (AJC.com, 1/3).

Meanwhile, the World Series champion Astros recently "received their formal invitation to visit the White House." President of Business Operations Reid Ryan said that the Astros "plan to attend." The exact date for the team to be honored by Trump "has yet to be determined." The Astros "don't make their annual trip to Baltimore to play the Orioles until the final series of the regular season." Ryan said that the team is "exploring the possibility of going" to DC during Spring Training (HOUSTON CHRONICLE, 1/4).
