Lynx Top Sparks For Fourth WNBA Title Before Raucous Sellout Crowd
The Lynx last night became the second WNBA franchise in "league history with four championships, winning their fourth in seven seasons." Williams Arena was "filled with 14,362 fans" as the home team defeated the Sparks 85-76 in Game 5 of the Finals (Minneapolis STAR TRIBUNE, 10/5). The sold out arena was "full to the back rows upstairs, with most fans wearing gray T-shirts they found draped over the seats and benches" (Minneapolis STAR TRIBUNE, 10/5). It was an "atmosphere not replicated at Williams Arena in recent memory," even by Univ. of Minnesota men's basketball games (ST. PAUL PIONEER PRESS, 10/5).

A championship parade will be held tonight at 6:30pm CT. It will proceed toward Williams Arena and will "end at the doors" of the venue (STARTRIBUNE.com, 10/5).

Meanwhile, the Sparks, who "went to their locker room during the national anthem for the first four games" of the Finals, "stayed on the court" prior to Game 5 (ESPN.com, 10/4).
