Seahawks' Bennett Sits During Anthem, Plans To Continue Protest

Seahawks DE Michael Bennett sat during the national anthem prior to last night's exhibition against the Chargers, a "stance he said he will continue throughout the 2017 season in an effort to 'continuously push' a message against injustice." Bennett after the game said that he "made the decision in the last few days in the wake of demonstrations in Charlottesville and elsewhere, including earlier Sunday in Seattle." Bennett: "Seeing everything in Virginia and stuff that is going on I just wanted to be able to use my platform to continuously speak out" (SEATTLE TIMES, 8/14).
