Yankees Mull Extending Netting Along Lower Level Of Ballpark

The Yankees have been "reluctant to extend the protective netting along the lower level of seats at Yankee Stadium out of concern that some fans will object," but the team’s position "may be shifting." Less than 10 days ago a fan at Yankee Stadium was "struck in the head and bloodied by a foul ball off the bat" of RF Aaron Judge. The Yankees in a statement yesterday said that they "were 'seriously exploring' an extension of the current netting to the far end of each dugout, with the height of the netting being gradually reduced the farther it gets from home plate" (N.Y. TIMES, 8/4).
