Brent Musburger Signs Off After Iconic Play-By-Play Career

Brent Musburger signed off from his 50-year broadcasting career last night following Kentucky’s OT win against Georgia. Musburger after the game said, “What a road we’ve traveled together. Thanks so much to you for sharing your time with me. What great memories we had over the last almost 50 years. But now it’s time for me to turn over the play-by-play duties to those fine young announcers who are growing up at ESPN. … I’m going to miss working with all the great analysts that I've been with through the years. But, maybe you'll pay me a visit out at my new place in Las Vegas” (“Georgia-Kentucky,” ESPN, 1/31).

Georgia gave Musburger a "framed copy of their 1989 spring game program," while Kentucky coach John Calipari "presented him with a framed white No. 50 jersey (for his years in the industry) to a standing ovation" from the Rupp Arena crowd (N.Y. POST, 2/1).
