Baseball HOF Balloting Will Show Shift Toward PED-Era Players

The results of Baseball HOF balloting will be released tonight at 6:00pm ET, and it is expected to reflect the "voting body's rapidly loosening attitudes" toward PEDs. While "none of the biggest names" from MLB's '90s-'00s doping scandals has "made it to Cooperstown, and none likely will make it this time, the day appears to be fast approaching." Roger Clemens and Barry Bonds are "expected to see significant jumps in support, to the point where induction on future ballots, if not in 2018 then soon thereafter, is almost a certainty" (WASHINGTON POST, 1/18).

The BOSTON HERALD goes with, "Roger Clemens And Barry Bonds On Way To Hall Of Fame – But Not This Year." The N.Y. DAILY NEWS' John Harper writes under the header, "Why I'm Not Joining Other Hall Voters Who Put PED Kings On Ballot." SACRAMENTO BEE's Marcos Breton: "My Baseball Hall Of Fame Ballot Is Packed With Steroid ‘Cheaters’ And I’m Done Caring If You Hate It." Baltimore SUN: "PEDs Will Continue To Dominate Baseball Hall Of Fame Discussion For Years To Come."
