Ceremony Site For '24 Games In Focus As L.A. City Council Meets

The L.A. City Council meets today to discuss the '24 Games bid, and LA 2024's plans to "potentially hold" the Opening and/or Closing Ceremonies at the new NFL stadium in Inglewood instead of the L.A. Coliseum are "likely to be a source of conversation." Two L.A. officials are "recommending the City Council approve a Memorandum of Understanding" between the city and bid group that would require the council's approval to "any venue changes" for the ceremonies. The Inglewood stadium is "listed as a likely Olympic venue in the latest venue plan," though the Coliseum "continues to be designated as the opening and closing ceremonies site" (ORANGE COUNTY REGISTER, 1/13).
