Morning Hot Reads: Fall Of An Empire?

Author Mary Pilon in a special to the N.Y. POST wrote the NFL "may be experiencing the slow, inevitable crumble of a Roman-style empire." Like boxing, football will "never go away, just occupy a different role in the American zeitgeist." And in MMA, fans have a "new place to celebrate muscles and gore."

The Newark STAR-LEDGER reports Montreal-based FieldTurf "sold more than 1,000 fields to towns, schools and teams" across the U.S. "after its executives knew they were falling apart faster than expected." Most of the fields, which were sold to "everyone from small towns to NFL teams," were paid for "with tax dollars."
