Vegas Golden Knights: NHL Expansion Team's Identity Revealed

The Las Vegas NHL team last night unveiled Vegas Golden Knights as the team name "amid fanfare at Toshiba Plaza as an estimated 5,000 people waited outside" T-Mobile Arena. Team Owner Bill Foley said that he "purposely left off the word 'Las' for the team name because he said locals call the town 'Vegas' and thought he could connect better with them." The Golden Knights will wear "black, gold, steel gray, white and red in their uniforms" (LAS VEGAS REVIEW-JOURNAL, 11/23).

During the unveiling ceremony, a "video that was set to introduce the name failed to play, which set forth an audible" that saw Foley and NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman "comment on the name and logo" (THEHOCKEYNEWS.com, 11/22). But "technological snafus aside, the celebration Tuesday was more impressive than most could have imagined, with long lines of folks hoping to purchase merchandise still swelling hours after the announcement" (LAS VEGAS REVIEW-JOURNAL, 11/23).
