Las Vegas NHL Expansion Franchise Set To Unveil Team Name, Logo

Las Vegas’ NHL expansion team tonight will reveal its name and logo, and it is “expected to be some variation of Knights, with Desert Knights, Silver Knights and Golden Knights the mostly likely choices.” Team Owner Bill Foley will “appear alongside” NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman at Toshiba Plaza outside of T-Mobile Arena for the 5:30pm PT announcement (LAS VEGAS SUN, 11/19). Admission to the event is free and includes “entertainment from Cirque du Soleil.” It is also “the first chance to purchase official team merchandise,” as the team’s store at the arena “will open its doors following the conclusion of the ceremony.” Team VP & CMO Nehme Abouzeid said, “We’re hoping a few thousand people show up.” The ceremony will be televised on NHL Network and streamed on NHL.com (REVIEWJOURNAL.com, 11/21).

Today’s unveiling is “so critical in developing a fan base.” That is why team execs are “turning it into a celebration of sport and team.” It is “all part of Foley’s plan to get locals to support his franchise.” From “all accounts, Foley has been first-class each step of the way” (LAS VEGAS SUN, 11/22).
