Labor Talks Top Agenda At MLB Owners Meetings In Chicago

Ongoing labor negotiations will be the focus as MLB owners meet today and tomorrow in Chicago. Owners also will explore potential further changes to instant replay rules and pace-of-play provisions. No major votes are expected, but the session will focus heavily on ongoing labor negotiations with the MLBPA. The existing five-year CBA expires Dec. 1, and while both sides continue to express optimism toward striking a new agreement, active talks are continuing into the final days of the current deal.

MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred at last week's GM meetings said, “There are a couple of natural deadlines. One is the beginning of free agency, the other, obviously, is the expiration date. We missed deadline one, so we’re looking at deadline two.”
