Vin Scully Makes First Post-Retirement Media Appearance on ABC

Vin Scully appeared on ABC’s “Jimmy Kimmel Live” last night, his first media appearance since retiring as Dodgers broadcaster. Host Jimmy Kimmel said Scully is the “announcer against which all others are measured.” Scully said if he “had any kind of a trademark whatsoever” as a broadcaster, “it would be I would try to call the play as quickly and as accurately as possible and (then) shut up.” 

On his post-retirement schedule, Scully said, “I have a very important engagement on Monday the 17th. I am lecturing at the 6th grade school of St. Mills. I have a granddaughter and a grandson there. We have 16 grandchildren. If I can’t think of something to do, someone out there will.” As the interview ended, Scully agreed to call Kimmel's home run from the '04 MLB All-Star Legends and Celebrity Softball Game (ABC, 10/13).
