MLB Rangers' Mixed-Use Project Expected To Open In '18

MLB yesterday announced that Texas Live!, the mixed-use development near Globe Life Park and the Rangers’ planned new ballpark, is "expected to finally happen" by Opening Day in '18, with construction "set to begin in November." A 200,000-square-foot entertainment space "will be the first" part of the development to open. A 300-room hotel and 35,000 square feet of convention space "will follow that fall" (DALLAS MORNING NEWS, 9/21).

MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred, in Arlington for the announcement, "offered his full support” for the proposed retractable-roof stadium as a “way to combat the excessive heat during the summer" (FT. WORTH STAR-TELEGRAM, 9/21).
