NFL Set To Announce Philadelphia As Host City For '17 Draft

A source said that "it will become official" today that the NFL Draft is coming to Philadelphia. The past two drafts have been held in Chicago after leaving N.Y., where it had been held since '56, including nine years at Radio City Music Hall. The three-day draft would come to Philadelphia in a year where the Eagles "do not own a first-round pick" (ESPN.com, 8/31). A news conference "has been scheduled" for noon ET today in Philadelphia with league and city officials, as well as officials from the Eagles (NFL.com, 8/31). Philadelphia "last hosted the draft" in '60 (PHILLY.com, 8/31). Philadelphia "beat out several other locations eager to stage the proceedings" (CHICAGO TRIBUNE, 9/1).
