Maricopa County Considers Sale Of Chase Field To Private Investors

The Maricopa County (Ariz.) Board of Supervisors is "contemplating selling Chase Field in downtown Phoenix to private, out-of-state investors," and it will meet today to "vote on initiating negotiations." The "starting point for the proposed deal," made public yesterday, is a $60M sale price. It would include keeping the D-backs at the ballpark through '28 and "potentially longer." The county's vote "comes amid tension between the county and the team" over ballpark repairs. A source said that the D-backs are "unlikely to approve" the deal (ARIZONA REPUBLIC, 8/17).
