Laugh Track: A RiverDog In The Fight

Actor Danny McBride appeared on ABC’s “Jimmy Kimmel Live” last night to promote his new show, HBO’s “Vice Principals.” McBride recounted how actor Bill Murray, an investor in the Single-A South Atlantic League Charleston RiverDogs, got the show to film in Charleston, S.C. McBride: “I sent him an e-mail. It was just, ‘We have this role. It won't take much time, but it would be amazing if you would participate in this.’ And he wrote back this message like, 'I would love to have a hard copy delivered to the RiverDogs baseball stadium tonight. I will leave six tickets at the box office for you.' I was like, ‘We have our marching orders, this is our shot.’ So we took a copy of the script, we put it in one of those like silver metal briefcases that cocaine deals are made with and thought that was a good way to deliver it to him. We went to the baseball game, and we’re walking up to the box where we're supposed to go. I get up there and something's off. ... I’m like, ‘What is this? Where's Bill at?’ They were like, ‘He's right out there,’ and they started putting a mic on me, micing me up and I’m like, ‘What have I walked into here?’ And I walked out and Bill was filming an episode of Anthony Bourdain's show.” Host Jimmy Kimmel asked, “You became part of the show?” McBride: “I filmed the show. They cut me out of it” (“Jimmy Kimmel Live,” ABC, 7/25).
