StubHub To Become Yankees' Ticket Reseller, Ending Feud

The Yankees and StubHub this morning will announce a new partnership making the eBay-owned company the club’s official ticket reseller. Sources said the deal runs through the '22 season and has financial guarantees worth in excess of $100M. This ends years of feuding between the two parties that included the Yankees opting out of a league-level renewal with StubHub in late '12, plus a lawsuit the following spring in Bronx County Supreme Court regarding a now-relocated StubHub pickup location near Yankee Stadium. The partnership will supplant a ticket resale deal the club reached with Ticketmaster after the prior opt-out, and it gives StubHub access to previously barred Yankees ticket bar codes to allow for full mobile integration. Ticketmaster will remain the club’s primary ticketing provider.

Today's press conference will be led by Yankees President Randy Levine and StubHub President Scott Cutler. The two in February held what Levine termed a “productive” meeting regarding the club’s new and highly debated prohibition on print-at-home tickets. For Cutler and StubHub, the new Yankees partnership also extends an active '16 that has included a primary ticket deal and jersey sponsorship with the 76ers. eBay President & CEO Devin Wenig last night tweeted, “We are pleased to partner with the Yankees for the benefit of fans in the N.Y. area.”

The N.Y. Times goes with the header, "Yankees Are Said To Enter Deal With StubHub." N.Y. Post: "Yankees Reach $100M Ticket Resale Deal With StubHub." ESPN.com: "Yankees To Sign Deal With StubHub To Be Official Ticket Resale Partner."
