Laugh Track: Looking Forward

NBA Draft prospect F Ben Simmons appeared on NBC’s “The Tonight Show” last night, with host Jimmy Fallon saying, “You were guaranteed to have a deal with Nike for $20 million. … Was your hand shaking when you signed it?” Simmons: “No, I was happy. I was excited.” Fallon: “Now you have more millions than you have years of your life. That’s unbelievable.” Simmons: “It's really surreal, but I've been blessed with a great family around me, supporting cast.” Simmons, who is involved with LeBron James’ management group, LRMR, said of James, “Whenever I need advice, I can go to him. … He's been through a lot, experienced a lot of things I probably will go through, so he's definitely a great person to reach out to.” Simmons also said that on Draft night he would be wearing a suit made by Brioni, and Fallon said, “That’s James Bond right there” (“The Tonight Show,” NBC, 6/21).

NBC’s Fallon said of the Cavaliers, “Yesterday in Cleveland, more than 20,000 fans greeted the team when they landed at the airport. Well, most of them were just in the really long TSA line, but still, they were very supportive. ‘Hey, LeBron! Want my shampoo? They won’t let me on with it.’” Fallon: “It's being reported that LeBron James' 11-year-old son already has basketball scholarship offers from Duke and Kentucky. After hearing this, LeBron was like, ‘So I can stop saving for his college? Whew, that’s a relief’” (“The Tonight Show,” NBC, 6/21).
