UFC Denies Report Of $4.2B Sale To Group Led By WME-IMG

UFC VP/PR, Athlete Marketing & Development Dave Sholler in a statement last night denied a report indicating that the promotion "had accepted an offer" of $4.2B to "sell the company." Sholler in the statement wrote the report is "false," and the UFC has "communicated that to our staff members tonight via an internal memo." Jeremy Botter of FloCombat yesterday cited sources as saying that a group "led by WME/IMG would purchase the UFC" for $4.2B. The report stated that the "majority of money for the deal would come from Chinese companies Dalian Wanda Group and Tencent Holdings" (SPORTS.YAHOO.com, 6/20).
