Ft. Lauderdale Announces Bid To Host X Games Beginning In '17

Ft. Lauderdale is “bidding to be a host city” for ESPN's X Games beginning in ’17, the Greater Ft. Lauderdale Convention & Visitors Bureau announced yesterday. The tourism board’s VP/Sports Development Carol Hudson said, “Action sports is growing tremendously in our area.” The city, which “has already submitted its bid, is competing with cities including Minneapolis and Providence.” The tourism bureau is “working on the bid with Mecca Media Entertainment in Miami,” led by Darryl Mack (South Florida SUN-SENTINEL, 5/27).
