Laugh Track: Offensive Coordination

Last night’s edition of Comedy Central’s “The Nightly Show With Larry Wilmore” featured a roundtable discussion with actress Robin Thede, show contributor Mike Yard and musician Esperanza Spalding on the recent poll stating 9 in 10 Native Americans are not offended by the Redskins' name. Yard said, "If that poll is really true, I am very upset, because I have spent a lot of time yelling at my car radio when they talk about this Redskins thing. I'm like pissed off, I’m like, ‘Change the (EXPLETIVE) name,’ and then they don’t care? I’ve wasted my yelling?" Thede: “There’s never been a professional sports team that was named after a derogatory term for black people, because black people are 90 percent of sports teams” (“The Nightly Show With Larry Wilmore,” Comedy Central, 5/24). Watch the full segment.

CBS’ Stephen Colbert said, “The NBA announced today that it has decided not to suspend Golden State's Draymond Green for kicking Steven Adams right in the 'basketesticles.' And boom goes the groin-o-mite! I know this is basketball, but Draymond Green's foot just got to third base! Now, Green claimed he didn't have the core strength to stop his leg once it started. So evidently, he had no other choice than to let gravity pull it upwards. I will say this much: Draymond Green has proven beyond a doubt, he is a 'baller'” (“The Late Show,” CBS, 5/24).

Model Brooklyn Decker appeared on CBS’ “The Late Show” last night, where host Stephen Colbert asked her about being on the cover of Sports Illustrated’s swimsuit issue in '10, specifically whether any of it was Photoshopped or not. Decker pulled out a picture of the cover and said, “See this ab? That’s like the magic of lighting right there. So thank you, Sports Illustrated. But no, it’s a lot of smoke and mirrors” (“The Late Show,” CBS, 5/24).
