A's Draw Sparse Crowd For Afternoon Game Against White Sox

The A's drew a "quiet and puny" crowd of 12,577 for their home game yesterday afternoon against the White Sox. The scene at Oakland Alameda Coliseum was a "stark contrast to the excitement that was going on across the bay at the same time" for the Giants' home opener against the Dodgers. The A's last season "drew only four smaller crowds than the one that was scattered" around the ballpark on Thursday. They lost 6-1 and dropped the series to the White Sox 3-1 (SAN JOSE MERCURY NEWS, 4/8).
