Scotts Renews MLB Sponsorship Deal With Three-Year Pact

Scotts has renewed its MLB sponsorship rights, with what sources said was a three-year deal. Under the new pact, Scotts continues to sponsor the league's grassroots Pitch, Hit & Run youth skills competition, but moves from presenting to title sponsor of the event. Royals 1B Eric Hosmer, who once participated in Pitch, Hit & Run, will serve as a spokesperson for the program. The grass seed and lawn-care brand will also back a series of six baseball field refurbishments, with Baseball HOFer Cal Ripken serving as Scotts’ ambassador there.

Scotts remains the “Official Lawn Care Company" of MLB and, with the sponsorship, will push its Miracle-Gro, Ortho and Scotts brands with media buys on MLB.com, MLB Network, and MLB rightsholders. Supporting MLB club deals have been scaled back from to five: the Braves, Red Sox, Reds, Rockies and Padres, a new addition.
