Rio Games Update Tops Agenda At IOC Exec Board Meeting

Rio's final preparations to host this summer’s Games and doping scandals in Russia and Kenya will top the IOC's agenda in a three-day executive board meeting starting today in Lausanne, Switzerland. The body will hear from Carlos Nuzman, head of the Rio Organizing Committee, on the city's efforts to combat water pollution and the Zika virus outbreak, as well as construction efforts on a key subway line and various sports venues. Also, WADA Chief Craig Reedie will update the board on Russia and Kenya's efforts to regain compliance with the body. Both countries must meet a series of reform demands to participate in Rio.

Meanwhile, ESPN.com notes, "More and more cities have already concluded it just doesn't make sense to undertake the risk or cost of hosting the Olympics right now."
