IOC's Thomas Bach Visiting L.A. To Meet With Bid, USOC Officials

L.A. 2024’s plan to house Olympic athletes at UCLA instead of building a new village will top the agenda today when IOC President Thomas Bach visits L.A. Bach will meet with bid co-chairs Casey Wasserman and Mayor Eric Garcetti, bid CEO Gene Sykes and USOC CEO Scott Blackmun, among others.

Blackmun said that in-person visits are key to selling the bid. “The more that President Bach and other IOC members can learn about L.A., the more they can see what kind of a city L.A. is, the better L.A.’s bid is going to be able to compete,” Blackmun said. "I lived in L.A. for five years. I think it’s a great city, a very, very livable city, and those are things I would not have said prior to living in L.A.”
