Jimmy Kimmel Surprises Shaquille O'Neal With Staples Center Statue

TNT’s Shaquille O’Neal appeared on ABC’s “Jimmy Kimmel Live” last night, with host Jimmy Kimmel noting O'Neal is “one of the greatest players in NBA history." O’Neal said of his possible induction into the Basketball HOF, “They say they're going to make an announcement at All-Star weekend, so hopefully I'm a big part of that announcement.” Kimmel: “You absolutely have to be or else somebody’s going to get hit again.”

Kimmel proceeded to show O'Neal the statues outside Staples Center. Kimmel: “This is a surprise to you. The Lakers asked me to mention it. This is the statue of you they're putting up at the Staples Center.” O’Neal: “Seriously?” Kimmel said to a disbelieving O’Neal: “I'm stupid, but I'm not that stupid, believe me. This is for real. I'm not kidding at all. That is an artist rendering of the statue that is going to go up of you outside the Staples Center” (“Jimmy Kimmel Live,” ABC, 1/27).
