L.A. Coliseum Commission Mulls Proposal To House Two NFL Teams

The L.A. Memorial Coliseum Commission today will "consider amending its lease with USC" to allow two NFL teams to temporarily use the venue, marking the "latest sign that a second NFL team could soon join the Rams in L.A." USC's current lease "allows only one NFL team to use the facility." The commissioners "wouldn't vote on it until a future meeting" (L.A. TIMES, 1/28). An NFL official yesterday said that the Coliseum Commission proposal is "not connected to the Chargers and Rams negotiations" (L.A. DAILY NEWS, 1/28).

Also today, the Metropolitan Transportation Authority Board will discuss a "proposal to study the feasibility of building a light-rail line that would extend from Inglewood's NFL stadium into the South Bay" (L.A. DAILY NEWS, 1/28).

Meanwhile, Rams GM Les Snead yesterday discussed the team's upcoming move to the Coliseum. He said the stadium is "such an historic place; that will be neat for our players." He added, "Our payers will really enjoy being outdoors." When asked about the prospects for a training facility, Snead said, "There is a vision to go out and vet some land and build a permanent training facility" (L.A. TIMES, 1/28).
