Doctors Find Advanced CTE In Brain Of 27-Year-Old Former NFLer

Boston Univ. and Concussion Legacy Foundation reps have notified the family of Tyler Sash that "CTE had been diagnosed" in the brain of the former NFLer, who died in September at age 27. The condition, "which can be confirmed only posthumously, had advanced to a stage rarely seen in someone his age." The severity of Sash's CTE was "about the same level found in the brain" of Junior Seau, who died at age 43. Doctors grade CTE on a severity scale of 0 to 4, and Sash was at Stage 2 (N.Y. TIMES, 1/27).
