Texas Athletics Promises Departmental Changes Following Investigation

Univ. of Texas athletic officials yesterday emailed football season-ticket holders and "outlined departmental changes made in response to a university auditor's investigation into past abuses in ticket operations." The email was "triggered by the American-Statesman’s report" about the findings. It "does not name any individuals nor say whether anyone was held responsible." The Statesman reported that some of the evidence was "turned over to the Travis County district attorney for possible felony prosecution, however no charges were filed" (AUSTIN AMERICAN-STATESMAN, 12/14).

This comes after Texas men's AD Mike Perrin said that the school will "continue to use a football ticket resale policy put in place last season even though it was unpopular with season-ticket buyers." Under the revised policy, "those who paid the Longhorn Foundation the required donation were allowed to resell their tickets to anyone they saw fit" (HOOKEM.com, 12/12).
