Source: Lions Switching Flagship Radio Stations To WJR-AM

A source said that Detroit's WJR-AM today will announce that it "will be the flagship station" for the Lions starting with the '16 season. WXYT "has been the team's flagship for the past 18 seasons," first as an AM and now an FM signal. WJR "has been looking to dive back into professional sports for at least the past year." The station "has been the home of Michigan State football and basketball" since '06 (DETROIT NEWS, 11/20). The Lions are "expected to keep" play-by-play man Dan Miller and color commentator Jim Brandstatter "in place" (DETROIT FREE PRESS, 11/20).
