YES Network Goes Dark On Comcast Systems In Northeast

YES Network officially went dark on Comcast systems at midnight last night, a move that affected around 900,000 homes in Connecticut, New Jersey and Pennsylvania. The channel was replaced by a message that simply said, "The business agreement between YES Network and Comcast has expired, and we are currently not able to offer this programming. We apologize for the inconvenience."

Sources say the two sides are not close to an agreement, and the parties have taken an unusually aggressive approach in their public comments. Comcast hit at the popularity of the channel, saying that viewership is not big even for Yankees games. “YES simply does not present an appropriate price-value proposition for our customers.” YES Network launched a website and accused Comcast of being duplicitous by agreeing to terms on a new deal months ago before walking away: “Comcast’s reputation for poor customer service is well known."
