Demand For NL Wild Card Tickets Outpaces Prices For AL Game

The Yankees host the Astros in tonight's AL Wild Card game, and Yankees COO Lonn Trost said that the ballpark was "sold out except for a smattering of seats including some for fans in wheelchairs, and some standing-room tickets." The average ticket price for the game on the secondary market as of last night was $180.09, 40% below the $300.41 average for tomorrow's Cubs-Pirates NL Wild Card game at PNC Park, according to TiqIQ.com. The average price for Astros-Yankees was the "lowest for a wild-card play-in contest since the game was introduced" in '12 (N.Y. TIMES, 10/6).

Meanwhile, SeatGeek analyst Chris Leyden said that tickets for Cub-Pirates, "while still historically expensive, are about one-third of what they would have been had the game been in Chicago" (Chicago DAILY HERALD, 10/6).
