Rams Draw Smallest Crowd For Home Opener Since Move To St. Louis

The Rams distributed 51,792 tickets for yesterday's OT home win against the Seahawks, but the fans in the stands "probably numbered around 45,000 in the 66,000-seat Edward Jones Dome." It was the "smallest crowd for a home opener since the Rams moved to St. Louis" in '95 (ST. LOUIS POST-DISPATCH, 9/14). The Rams fans "who did attend roared in approval, drowning out the Seahawks loyalists who gobbled up many of the tickets" (ST. LOUIS POST-DISPATCH, 9/14).

The Chargers, who are also exploring a move to L.A., drew a crowd of 66,093 for their home opener against the Lions at the roughly 71,000-seat Qualcomm Stadium. Some fans were "lining up in the front row with 'Save Our Bolts' painted onto the fronts" of their white T-shirts (SAN DIEGO UNION-TRIBUNE, 9/14).
