Blackhawks To Hold Victory Rally At Soldier Field Due To Weather

Wet weather has led Chicago to hold tomorrow's Blackhawks Stanley Cup victory rally at Soldier Field, "sparing the grass at Grant Park from damage but leaving hundreds of thousands of fans on the outside for what could prove to be a tough ticket." Tickets will be free and available starting at noon today. Fans will be "limited to four tickets each," to be e-mailed and "printed at home." Huge crowds "will be able to line the parade route" (CHICAGO TRIBUNE, 6/17).

Meanwhile, the Blackhawks and the Stanley Cup last night "made a grand entrance" at Wrigley Field prior to an Indians-Cubs game. Several players "took turns hoisting" the Cup around the warning track. Team captain C Jonathan Toews threw the first pitch (CHICAGOTRIBUNE.com, 6/16). Cubs players "seemed more than eager to see the Cup and be photographed with it" (Chicago DAILY HERALD, 6/17). Cubs co-Owners Tom and Todd Ricketts "watched intently as the Hawks' players entered the field" (CHICAGO TRIBUNE, 6/17).
