Laugh Track....Blazing A New Trail

NBC’s Jimmy Fallon began his monologue by announcing to the studio audience, “I am happy to announce that everyone in tonight’s audience is going home with a bribe from FIFA.” More Fallon: “I saw that former FIFA executive Chuck Blazer … has admitted to accepting bribes in 2013. Can we see Chuck Blazer for a second? It's going to be tough when he has to give himself coal for Christmas this year” (“The Tonight Show,” NBC, 6/4).

ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel said, “Earlier tonight on ABC was Game 1 of the NBA Finals between the Golden State Warriors and Cleveland Cavaliers. By the way, if you want to vote on who should win the phone lines are still open. They have an interesting format, interesting way they’re doing the Finals this year. Games 1 and 2 take place in Oakland and then the series shifts to Cleveland for Games 3 and 4, and then FIFA will sell the location for the last games to whoever pays the highest” (“Jimmy Kimmel Live,” ABC, 6/4).

Last night’s special NBA Finals broadcast of “Jimmy Kimmel Live Game Night” featured a segment called “Mean Tweets NBA Edition,” where various NBA players read tweets from fans about themselves. Kimmel said, “It isn’t easy to be a professional athlete. Yeah, you make a lot of money and you get to play sports for a living, but you’re also under a magnifying glass. Sports fans can be very tough on players, especially on social media” (“Jimmy Kimmel Live Game Night,” ABC, 6/4).
